Serhiy Kvit Speaks in Toronto on Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and the Transformation of Higher Education During the Full-Scale War

On November 11, the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation of Canada joined the Shevchenko Scientific Society of Canada in welcoming Professor Serhiy Kvit, President of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, for an evening of discussion at Old Mill Toronto.
Serhiy Kvit offered a compelling talk on how Kyiv-Mohyla Academy is adapting and leading through the realities of full-scale war. His reflections highlighted both the challenges facing Ukraine’s universities today and the innovative approaches emerging in response.
During the event, the key elements of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Strategy 2025–2035 were presented — a long-term vision focused on empowering future leaders and shaping a prosperous, forward-looking Ukraine. Professor Serhiy Kvit spoke about the university’s mission to nurture holistic, values-driven individuals, strengthen responsible public dialogue, and build an academic environment that connects Ukraine with the wider world through knowledge, culture, and exchange.
The strategy outlines ambitions for 2035 — from transforming governance in higher education to establishing new standards of excellence and fostering a vibrant ecosystem of alumni, faculty, partners, and supporters committed to Ukraine’s democratic future.
We are grateful to Serhiy Kvit for sharing his vision and to our partners — the Shevchenko Scientific Society of Canada, The Petro Jacyk Program for the Study of Ukraine, Dagmara Turchyn, and Marta Dyczok — for making this event possible.
