Russo-Ukrainian War from the Eyes of a Seasoned Historian: Highlights from the Charitable Event with Serhii Plokhy

On November 4, the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation of Canada hosted an insightful charitable event with Serhii Plokhy, a renowned historian, Director of the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute, author of the best-selling book «The Russo-Ukrainian War: The Return of History», and Honorary Professor of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

We would like to thank all who joined us for this remarkable day. It was an enlightening, deep, and sincere discussion. Professor Plokhy's distinct perspective provided valuable insights into the context of the ongoing war.

At the end of the event, Professor Plokhy, author of the new book «The Russo-Ukrainian War» (2023), was asked what inspired and surprised him the most. His simple yet powerful response "Ukrainian people" left a lasting impression on all of us. We also wish to express our sincere appreciation to the entire Ukrainian community and all those who joined us in support. Your presence plays an important role for the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and its impact on society.

Expressing appreciation, we would also like to extend our gratitude to our moderator, Marta Dyczok, for guiding us through the conversation, BCU Foundation for supporting this event, and to everyone who participated in organizing the event. We are also grateful to the  Babel media source for an amazing article on the event: ”Zelensky changes just like the atmosphere in a room or society.” A brief synopsis of the speech of the historian Serhii Plokhy in Toronto.
