Congratulations to Victoria Plyhun, a recipient of the Bіzhan Sharopov Memorial Scholarship

In June 2023, Dariya Paramonova and Roman Nabozhniak established an endowment scholarship fund in the memory of Bizhan Sharopov, KMA graduate who was a terrific scientist but laid down his life as a hero in April 2022. 

This scholarship honors his work in the Biology field and gives an opportunity for KMA PhD students to participate in research internships at leading laboratories and universities worldwide. In October a competition for this scholarship was announced and now, within 3 months, we are glad to congratulate a recipient Victoria Plyhun.

Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Serhiy Kvit, KMA President and  Evhen Dykyi, head of the National Antarctic Scientific Center, attended the scholarship award ceremony.

Victoria is conducting research in the field of plant genetics and plans to undergo practicing at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznan. 

We are grateful to everyone who joined the fundraising for this scholarship and therefore ensured that Bizhan’s legacy lives on following this tragic heroic loss.
